Each November for the past few years I've volunteered to raise money for the Center For New Americans (CNAM). It's a November thing. November has 30 days and we poets are invited to write a poem every day, hoping to encourage friends and family and supporters to donate to CNAM. I invite you along on my portion of this journey. Straw Dog Writers Guild does all the hard work. Nerissa Nields, musician and poet, is this year's program leader and she'll be offering daily prompts. All we poets have to do is one little poem a day. When you donate you make a difference to so many deserving people who are on journeys to become U.S. Citizens. I'll send you a poem a day (if you like) while we lend support to an absolutely wonderful organization. I had a French grandma who added so much to my life and to any piece of the world she encountered. She loved me so fiercely and influenced my love of roasted potatoes, of marzipan, my love for New York in snow, of little glass bottles---so many things! I channel her when I think of helping the Center For New Americans. I wonder what life would have been like for her if she'd not received help as she first made her way to America. Think of this...we are all on a journey and we are all connected. I like to think life is as simple as that. Do join me during November as we go on a poetry adventure. Make this be your month to support CNAM and I'll be writing---so, come along and read some poetry. Here's a way to support this November poetry journey. If you donate through my page, I'll reach out to thank you and (if you like) send you daily poems! Let's connect our love of poetry with our caring for others who need just a bit of help to get started. If you'd like to find out more about all the programs the Center For New Americans does, visit their home page at CNAM.org. Thanks so much, and hope you'll join me on this journey, Fin
